DESCRIPTION:

Providing leadership to the laboratory, pathology and mail room and is accountable for all clinical and administrative ascpects. Promotes leadership in areas of people, service, finance, quality and growth. Provides leadership in department by buiding a cohesive team that promotes a culture of safety and transparency within the hospital. Coordinates the activities of the laboratory to integrate seamlessly with in the hospital, maximizing information exchange to provide excellent care to our patients. 

Directly reports to the COO and The Laboratory Medical Director.

Direct Reports:  lab Manager,CLS, Lab Assistants, Pathology Assistants and couriers

Responsible: Instruction, reviews, assigns and plans work

Accountable for: 

Meeting hospital standards

Meeting Joint Commission and Title XXII requirements

Demonstrating current knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures

Maintaining good communications and interpersoanl relations with patients, community program praticipants physicians and hospital employees. 

Experience with Laboratory Information systems and hosptial information systems

REQUIREMENTS:
BS/BA Degree
Current CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
7 years Laboratory experience
3 year Managerial experience in acute care setting with both inpatient/out patient responsibilities.
Union environment experience
